CHICK RARING (BROODING)

Chicks after hatching need to be kept in warm kholas to prevent high mortalities.

Preparation for chick raring

• Clean the kholas and disinfect the khola with disinfectant
• Hung a brooder (heater) to provide adequate heat in the khola. If charcoal heaters then hung them on bricks
• Spread adequate dry litter on the khola’s floor
• Provide cool and clean drinking water in drinking trough appropriate for the chicks’ ages

• Feed them with chick mash
