Harvest soya when it has matured usually after 100 to 140 days after planting, number of days may depend on variety

Harvest when a good percentage of soya has matured

Matured soya makes sound when shaken.

Harvest in the morning hours when temperatures are low to prevent shattering

Do not harvest on a rainy day to avoid drying problems which can cause losses

Cut the plant at the base using a sickle so that roots are left in the soil, the roots of soybeans have nodules of nitrogen fixing bacteria which may help establish a colony of these bacteria in your soil to aid future planting

Safely transport soya home.

Thresh manually or mechanically when the plants are properly dry and as soon as possible

Beat gently with small sticks to avoid destroying the seeds

Depending on varieties, you may harvest 16 to 20 bags (50kg) of soya per acre
