Seed Selection

• Choice of seed depends on yield, maturity period and disease resistance

• Use good quality seed from known and reliable seed source like government agricultural research institutions and certified agro dealers

• Seed should be kept in shell until shortly before planting

• Groundnut seed like the other legumes can only be recycled up to a maximum of 3 seasons

• Consult the extension officer for recommended varieties for your area.

Seed Inoculation

• Groundnut seed can be inoculated with Rhizobium for improved production. The Rhizobium strain is available from Agricultural Research Stations and other agro dealer shops.

• Read instructions inside or on the inoculum packet on how you can apply it to seeds.
