HARVESTING
HARVESTING
-
Harvest maize in good time when the cob is fully dried to prevent it from being destroyed. The maize cob that is ready to harvest is usually dry and the cob points downwards.
-
Stooking is recommended to complete drying, facilitate harvesting and enable farmers to plough their land while the soil is still moist.
-
To avoid damage by rodents, termites and weevils in the field, maize should be harvested and stored soon after stoking and transpoted safely home.
