LAND PREPARATION

Start preparing land as soon as the rain season ends or after harvesting the previous crop. Plough the land deep enough to facilitate complete organic decomposition and to enhance aeration.

Ridging

When ploughing maize field, ridges should be spaced at 75cm between ridges and the ridges should be 30cm high from the ground.. On a steep slope, ridges should be made across the slope.
