GRADING AND STORAGE

• Well threshed pigeon peas should be graded before storage
• Remove all shrived, insect damaged, diseased and grain of different colour
• Dry the grain to recommended moisture content (13%)
• Farmers are encouraged to store produce early to avoid infestation by weevils
• It is therefore important to apply actelic super dust as the grains are very susceptible to insect pest damage in store
• You may also store in hermetic bags. Store well dried grain in clean and dry containers
• Store in a cool dry place whilst waiting for market.
