LAND PREPARATION
LAND PREPARATION
Site selection
Soybean grows well on deep, well-drained, fertile soils, but performs badly in poor sandy soils with low content of organic matter.
Avoid:
-
The land that has had soya bean or tobacco the past two seasons
-
Steep slopes
-
Land likely to have water logging conditions
-
Very sandy and shallow soil to avoid drought stress
-
A lot of shade to the soybean crop like under the trees.
Land Clearing
You can clear the field using slashers, pangas and hoes.
